The Artist

Savannah Houghtaling is a Virginia-local artist specializing in character illustration and hand-drawn animation.

Her passion for creativity ignited at a young age. Growing up, she had hands in all things creative, all the time. She has dabbled in various artistic pursuits over the years such as singing, fashion design, and acting. However, her true calling emerged when she discovered the art of animation. Since then, Savannah has been fascinated with breathing life into characters and their worlds, finding joy in crafting believable and relatable animated stories.

Proficient in both traditional and digital mediums, Savannah specializes in digital character illustration and both digital and traditional hand-drawn animation. She has honed her skills at Massanutten Technical Center, graduating from the animation course there in June 2018. Furthermore, she has had the privilege of studying traditional hand-drawn animation under legendary animator Don Bluth, completing his course in January 2024. Additionally, for over four years, Savannah has served as the lead artist for a local paint and sip, enriching her community with engaging and memorable art experiences.

With over a decade of freelance experience, Savannah finds joy in bringing the visions and ideas of others to life.

In her leisure time, she loves to travel, camp, contemplate the metaphysical, and continuously learn all that she can about anything she can. And of course, she won’t pass up a good matcha latte. Oat milk with 3 vanilla, please.
